Jesus Loves Children and We Do Too
When the disciples were telling the children not to bother Jesus, He stopped them.
Jesus gathered the children close to Him. He explained that anyone who didn’t have
their child-like faith would never get into the Kingdom of God.
The wonder and awe of children continue to teach us to this modern day.
If the parents did not bring the children to Jesus, how would they ever know
of His perfect love. Jesus loves us with all of our imperfections. He welcomes us
to have the faith of a child in Him. He is our teacher and each week at Bethlehem
Lutheran Church, we have a Bible lesson for HIS children of ALL ages.

In the children’s Sunday School Class, children are safely supervised where they can have a
small snack, beverage and music time as we color or work a word puzzle. Age appropriate lessons
provided include: The Ten Commandments, The Lord’s Prayer, and Bible stories as we follow
the church holiday calendar.
When children are entering the 7th grade, they are invited to begin study under the Pastor’s supervision.
This course of study is called “Catechism Class”. The church pastor will guide the children utilizing
a contract with parents and child. This approach allows for independent study to accommodate
today’s busy family schedule. The Catechism Class will learn about the Lutheran faith utilizing
Martin Luther’s Catechism. The student will be welcomed into the church family with a special
presentation in a church service. This “Confirmation Service” is when the student publicly
confirms his or her faith and understanding of the teachings of the Lutheran Church. Special
adult catechism classes are also provided.
In recent years, teens at Bethlehem have served our Lord by participating in choir, serving as ushers,
helping with nursery and Sunday School classes, creating unique paintings and art work throughout
the church and distributing invitations to neighbors to join us. Children entering the 2nd grade may
share in Holy Communion after completing instruction.
As God has blessed each of you with different talents, we welcome the child in you who comes to the
Lord and the children in your life that you bring to learn about Jesus and to join our church family.
We appreciate the new ways we can yet share in learning His lessons.
